Let them eat cake! (by Andy)

Today was Katie's birthday and I was able to surprise her with a party! She went out for a spa day with her girlfriend Alexa and the chaos ensued to get the house ready! The party was attended by a few friends of Katie's from Mommy Groups as well as Seth, Matt, Di and the boys. Myself, AJ, Alexa and Brian as well, of course. Katie was under the impression that she and Alexa would return home from their spa day and we would turn around and all four of us would go out to dinner - with Alton safe in the hands of babysitters. Katie was very surprised when the house was packed with people! The hit of the party was the cake. I had a local cake company create a knitting-themed cake for the occasion. (don't worry, there's a picture). The design was three balls of yarn atop a plain white round cake with "Happy Birthday Katie" written on the display board. Katie was very surprised and I'm very happy that Katie was surprised and loved the idea. There were a lot of people involved in keeping the secret and I wanted to thank everyone that helped out in making the party a success! There will be more later about the party - including the video of Katie walking in and being surprised as well as the video of Katie seeing her cake for the first time.
