Photobomb! (by Andy)

This is a segment of the Great Christmas Trip of '09. It will also serve as a bit of a preview of Part 2, since most of the pictures take place at the Rhyne house. For those of you who don't know what a photobomb is, it is an unexpected person in your picture. We've all either done it or had it done to us: You're trying to take a nice picture at the concert, and some random person pops in behind you at the last second sticking his tongue out. The best examples can be found at thisisphotobomb.com. But the primary thing that identifies a "good" photobomb is that it ruins or distracts the attention from the person or thing originally being photographed. As Katie and I reviewed our pictures from our trip, we found that we had quite a few photobombs. Strangely, though, none of them from people. The dogs were the primary culprits. Jack (Cari and Julio's Jack Russell) seemed relatively mild - only showing up in pictures unintentionally.

Tye (Grammy and Grandpa's lab mix) was also in a few as he tried to get closer to his beloved humans.

"I'm watching you..."

Even Alton's Pooh Bear made an appearance in a few pictures. Just to let us know he was keeping track of us.

But the best (and most frequent) photobomber was Minerva. Although some of her attempts were accidental and merely a result of her trying to get some of the attention, much like Tye...

"Nano, MOVE!" (Nano is the way Alton pronounces Minerva's name)

... it became clear that Minerva was clearly screaming for attention. As we scrolled through the photos (initially joined by my Mom) we were beside ourselves with laughter. (All of the captions should be read in your best Eeyore voice for the maximum effect)
"Can I be in this picture, too?"

"I wish I could ride a bike."

"I think that would be fun for me, too"

"Whatcha guys doin'?"

These next three are reminiscent of a 70's horror film. I assure you that neither Cousin *P or Grammy were in any danger. (And in the last of these three, the spot above Minerva that looks like it could be another dog is actually the BBQ that was behind her. )
