Once we return from our trip, we have one day at home to rest (and unpack...do laundry...) before Andy returns to work and we have one day before Nonna and Aunt Cici arrive for a school break visit! So we are scurrying around making out of town preparations here, but it's all with the idea that once we get home, we'll have major grocery shopping trips to do and bathrooms to clean before our guests arrive. We're packing and organizing and trying not to let our home fall into squalor and filth (that's on the calendar for next week, when we are gone), but there's definitely some household triage that needs to take place, where we decide what things we are going to clean up before we depart, and what things we are going to do after we get home. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
What should we leave undone?
a) Bathroom cleaning--a spotty mirror and countertop and unwashed toilet are not going to blow themselves up while we are gone.
b) Vacuuming--it's not like Minerva will be here to distribute MORE dog hair around.
c) Taking down the Christmas tree--if every needle dries up and falls to the floor, we can call it forward thinking in home decor!
d) Kitchen cleanup--we'll just take the Christmas cookies and run, hoping that while we are gone some good fairies come and put away the dishes in the dishwasher, scrub out the coffeepot, and wipe down the counters.
Hmm, on second thought, we don't want ants or mice and pine needles embedded in the carpet. So maybe we'll just concentrate on "c" and "d" and leave the other chores for those people we'll be when we return to the house? (We always give them the shaft.)
Here is Alton's Office all bedecked with Christmas cheer. Blog posts will be scarce until we return in January, so if we don't see you soon, we hope you have a safe and happy holiday with your loved ones! I know we will with ours.

Okay, so I'm trying to picture this. In your area you would get ants and rats while you are gone. Aren't they hibernating yet? and as for the pine needles isn't that what a tree skirt is for. I mean, I'm just finding fault with your reasoning not saying you shouldn't do what you want to do.

My, my, we ARE sassy this holiday season! I am not sure I would want to test the hibernation theory by leaving goodies out on the counters just to see whether or not we get pests. I HAVE to make time to write in the blog for all of my adoring fans, didn't you know?
